PROSTATE CANCER CLIMB Bio
The most important motivation is to further prostrate cancer awareness and research, Robert says. This is especially personal to me as my son, Bill, faces an exceptionally high risk of prostate cancer The appeal of the climb is the fellowship with a group of men who have also faced prostate cancer. The familys first does of bad news came in 1999 when Roberts wife Barbara was diagnosed with stomach cancer. She died a year later. Telling my kids they were going to lose their mother was one of the hardest things I have done. Then I had to add that their dad was also facing a very serious cancer. It was a very difficult time, but they came through and we remain a very close family I have worked to survive my disease by remaining active and looking forward.
Proceeds of the Prostate Cancer Climb will go exclusively to funding education and research. Distribution of the Hap Weyman Memorial Prostate Cancer Project Fund will be determined by the Independent Educational Research Funding Committee (IERFC). |
