“My grandfather died from prostate cancer, and recently, close family friends have been diagnosed as well,” Darren adds. “My father has had several brain tumor operations and I’ve seen the devastating effects cancer has had on families in my practice. But I’ve also seen what happens when early detection and preventative measures are taken and with the newer technologies and advancements in medicine, it is a war that we will inevitably win. “I hope that through our efforts, we will increase awareness of prostate cancer while at the same time raise money for research and allow the prostate cancer survivors on our team to reach their goals of experiencing a high mountain adventure.”
Proceeds of the Prostate Cancer Climb will go exclusively to funding education and research. Distribution of the Hap Weyman Memorial Prostate Cancer Project Fund will be determined by the Independent Educational Research Funding Committee (IERFC). |
